MESSAGING & POSITIONING
Make complex B2B value easier
to understand
When your company, technology or solution is complex, explaining what you do is only part of the challenge. You also need to make clear why it matters, what makes it different and why customers should care.
I help French and European B2B companies clarify their messaging and turn complex ideas into communications that make sense to the people they need to reach.
Inside the company, the technology may be well understood. Executives know where the business is going. Sales teams know the customers. Product teams know the offer.
But bringing all of that together into a clear, consistent story can be surprisingly difficult.
The challenge often surfaces at moments of change—when a company enters a new market, launches a solution, redesigns its website, repositions the business or needs to bring different capabilities under one story.
Often, the problem isn't too little information. It's too much.
The work is to determine what matters most—and find the clearest way to communicate it.
The problem is often not what the company knows. It's deciding what the audience needs to understand.
When the business is clear internally—but the message isn't
How I help
Messaging and positioning work can begin at different points. Sometimes the challenge is already clear. Sometimes we need to work further upstream to understand what is getting in the way.
In either case, I start with the business rather than the copy.
01
Understand the business first
Before deciding what to say, I need to understand the business objective, the audience, the offer and the customer perspective.
That usually means working directly with marketing teams, executives and subject-matter experts—asking questions, testing assumptions and understanding what makes the company or solution different.
02
Find the message
Complex businesses rarely suffer from a lack of information. The challenge is deciding what matters.
I help separate what is important from what is simply interesting, identify the strongest points of differentiation and determine what the audience needs to understand first.
03
Build the story
Once the message is clear, we can structure it into a coherent narrative.
Depending on the assignment, that may become a core company story, solution positioning, messaging pillars, a website narrative or the structure for an important presentation.
04
Take it through to communications
The work doesn't have to stop with a strategy or messaging framework.
I can carry the thinking through into website copy, presentations and other priority communications, working with your internal team, agency, designers or other partners where needed.
What we might work on
The exact scope depends on the business challenge. Messaging and positioning assignments may focus on one specific need or bring several elements together into a broader communications framework.
Corporate and brand messaging
Value propositions
Messaging frameworks
US and international messaging
Website messaging
Presentations and other strategic communications
The objective is not simply to produce new messaging. It's to create a clearer foundation for how the business communicates.

US & INTERNATIONAL COMMUNICATIONS
When the audience changes, the message may need to change too
Messaging developed for a French or European audience doesn't automatically have the same impact with US business decision-makers.
The issue is rarely the quality of the English alone. The way a company explains its value, establishes differentiation, structures its argument and supports its claims may also need to be reconsidered.
As an American who has spent much of my career working in France and across European business environments, I can bring both perspectives to that process.
Not simply translating the message. Asking whether it's the right message for the audience.
